A GK vehicle allegedly belonging to Turkana South MP James Lomenen was caught with purchased firearms from South Sudan just few minutes after they had finished exchanging from another vehicle allegedly belonging to the former Nanam Ward MCA. Nanam Ward is in Turkana West.

Here is the report...

"A vehicle with registration number GKB345M has been nabbed along Lodwar - Kakuma road with six AK 47 rifles and six magazines together with 30 rounds of ammunition all hidden behind the drivers seat.

The Toyota Land cruiser which had on board three occupants, two male a driver and a KPR and one female is said to belong to the Turkana South CDF and was heading to Lodwar.

Working on an intelligence report, the members of the security team were able to intercept the vehicle and arrested the occupants.

The three have been held in custody at Lodwar police station and are awaiting to be arraigned in court today.

The car is alleged to have received the consignment from another vehicle registration number KAD 936V that was nabbed heading to Kakuma having on board three occupants, a former MCA of Nanam ward of Turkana west Constituency by the name Philip Ekuwam and two other occupants.

Turkana County has been experiencing high levels of bandit related insecurity especially along the borders of Uganda, South Sudan and Ethiopia and also internally along the Baringo and West Pokot".

The question has always been where the guns are coming from and who purchases them?
