During colonial times kenya and East africa were marketed as Premier hunting safari destinations where you could hunt the Big Five. When independence came and mzungu lost control of the wildlife, he lobbied to make hunting illegal and formed conservation NGOs to raise funds to conserve the "endangered species" . So before independence he made cash from the wildlife via hunting safaris and after independence he continues to make cash from the same wildlife via conservation. In countries where mzungu still controls the wildlife like South Africa, Botswana, Namibia etc hunting is allowed and elephants, lions, leopards etc are shot for sport. The whites even sell game meat like gazelles, antelopes in supermarkets from their game ranches. But in countries where mzungus don't have control of the wildlife they have lobbied to criminalise hunting. The hunting and conservation sector is very racist where the white man is allowed to hunt but when the African does the same he is condemned as a poacher. This has ensured that only the white man profits from Africa's wildlife.
