Will that not be giving in to impunity?waachilie tu zuma hii story iishe
I doubt it, SA has a history of government freeing people after such protests, this will not be the first nor the last time if they did soWill that not be giving in to impunity?
No, Mwalimu! It will be correcting a wrong! The man was not supposed to be put in jail, in the first place! Hao majaji wanaiga... wanashindana na wenzao from Kenya in setting precedences. Maraga na wakora wake prescribed such anarchy here in Kenya when they overturned a democratic election but Kenyans were too weary with perpetual rioting. Will that not be giving in to impunity?
Read about Nkandla home and then say with a straight face that Zuma shouldn't have been touched. No, Mwalimu! It will be correcting a wrong! Not that he is not culpable. Far from it. It is just that they ought to have meted a different punishment but a severe one, nonetheless. A non-custodial penalty that corresponds with the offence he is accused to have committed. A fine, perhaps?Read about Nkandla home and then say with a straight face that Zuma shouldn't have been touched.
What if such an option does not exist in their law?Not that he is not culpable. Far from it. It is just that they ought to have meted a different punishment but a severe one, nonetheless. A non-custodial penalty that corresponds with the offence he is accused to have committed. A fine, perhaps?

You're right. What I mentioned is the tip of the iceberg. Just the other day I shared a video of Trevor Noah giving the Summary of Zuma's reign. Gupta's influence is from 30:50 to the end but feel free to watch the whole clip. Funny and very informative. It is not just about Nkandla

This is the kind of thought process that breeds anarchy. The guy ignored court to the extent that the court saw it best to issue a jail sentence. If the court should have been the “adult in the room” what kind if precedent would have been set? that you can ignore court and get away with it? People ought to take responsibility. It behoves someone to be the adult in the room. The court, at this juncture, had the onus to act with cautious discretion.
These are the kind of issues you could describe as the fuel. The Zuma issue was like a spark and a catalyst rolled up into one. And the whole satafrika universe went kaboom! That said, I believe the current looting spree has less to do with Zuma and more to do the fatigue arising out of the never ending Covid-19 restrictions.
