Russia threatens the US: We can deploy troops in Cuba and Venezuela

The Cuban missile crisis of 1962 is about to be re-enacted. The Cuban missile crisis is the closest the world came to witnessing a nuclear conflict between the United States and the then USSR. This crisis was partly triggered by the attempted deposition of the Cuban communist government by the United States and the deployment of US missiles in Turkey. This time round, Russia is responding to NATO's attempt to expand into Ukraine, something NATO had promised would never happen. It would be interesting to watch how the situation unfolds considering that the US would never fathom living under the threat of Russian missiles in Cuba. This is certainly the only threat that would get the US to behave rationally.

What's more, when Russia was weak, 1990-2000, Nato expanded to Russia's border. Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia are now Nato and they border Russia. Imagine if Russian missiles were in Mexico?

They dont seem to learn. Ukraine has been annexed (Crimea) and invaded, but they are still nyef nyefing eti they are US allies. Russia has 3,000 nukes which makes it virtually untouchable. Watakipata...............

the cost of gas in europe has gone up by about 50% in the past 6 months.. in the uk its set to go a farther 50% in April.. so if i paid £1000 for my gas and electricity in the year 2020.. i am probably looking at 1800 to 2000 by the end of this year.. guess where europe gets most of its gas from...

I would hesitate to call it posturing. The possibility of such deployment has been under consideration since NATO started its eastward expansion, and most groundwork is already in place. Cuban deployment is Russia's trump card. Two, Russia is the only country that can match the US in both conventional and non-conventional conflicts. Although the US has a huge defense budget, it suffers from divided attention, where it has to strategize against a dozen enemies. On the other hand, all of Russia's defense investments are solely focused on the US. That explains why the US has to play catch-up to Russia in some advanced weaponry.

For instance, Russia is already developing defenses against hypersonic missiles while the US is yet to develop its own hypersonic missiles. As for China, it is tomorrow's threat, and a lethal at that given its resources. China is quietly courting Russia for advanced weapon systems. Such technologies, coupled with huge financial resources, will change the power balance in a big way.
