When a girl Lost Virginity Before marriage

Kamau is an excited young man today. They are finally bringing Wanja home.

Yes, Wanja who has made him toss and turn in bed in deep longing for the past two seasons.

His Father, Njūgūna and his clan just finished paying full bride price to Wanja's parents. He is sure the 99 goats,Mūratina and every other bit of Maaha their 'athoni' asked for oa worth it because weeeh! That nyarari is beautiful like the rising sun.

He remembers how on many a Múgoiyo dance ocassion..... Well, no need to go there, in a few days he will get to show her.

Wanja arrives, Kamau's mother makes the kîrîrî for her. She is in the company of her sisters and friends. They have to bring her food because she cannot eat the one her mother in law has cooked yet.

Five daya pass, and they start building her a hut. It has to bw finished within the day. A little boy and girl will sleep in the hut to keep off fhe hyenas that might decide to make the hut a toilet.

Her mother in law calls her and teaches her three things:

1. Kwaūra: How to receive her man when he comes home from working or hunting. MIL wants her son happy, not stories of:

"Honey nimeleta kanyama na bread,"

"Una-announce usaidiwe aje? Kwani hujui hii nyumba fridge inakuanga wapi?

2. Kūihūra: How to serve her man. She doesn't want to ever hear that Kamau was in his wive's kitchen looking for lunch. Or that, that village skunk, Waceera took advantage of Wanja's carelessness and decided to Kūihūra for Kamau.

3. Kwara: Mama kamau wants happy Wanja and Happy Kamau. She remembers how her own mother in law taught her to get ready for the dance between the ....cowhides? 😅. She knows it is the glue that will keep her son and her Nyakiambi happily married.

Wanja is a fast learner, she gobbles down the tutorial like a genie.

The eighth day comes and Kamau finally gets to pinch his own Tobacco.😋😋😋😋

All the Múgoiyo lessons are now paying off..wuehhh, good day this one.

But something is not right, and he knows he has to tell his father the report.

His father is infuriated, he takes his Mūratina calabash and puts 'makara,' black charcoal in it. He really thought it would be 'mbimbi cia mbúri,' for Wanja, she seemed chaste.

Hee! Wanja's father cannot be caught when he finds charcoal in ths gourd. Yani this wife of his never taught his girl to beat cloth? (Kúringa nguo? )

Now on top of the shame of marrying off his daughter as a sleeper of the earth😅 (Mūkoma thî), he has to be fined?

He was really waiting for the he-goat of tasting the mūnyū.

Anyway, he accepts his daughter learned these things early and prepares an ewe, (Ngoima ya horio) to resolve this small small scam.

He also have to remove a he-goat(Thenge) for supporting the breasts😅 (Gūtiira nyondo).

He is hearing shame as he delivers the two animals, but well...💁

Wanja watches it all go down in stunned silence, it is the same Kamau who asked her to let him taste small when they went for Mûgoiyo in Kîrîti. These men ain't loyal at all 🙆🙆🙆

Beautifully written. What I always find amusing is that Gikuyu men always made up the flimsiest excuse to 'eat goat'.

A man would wake up and fall after tripping at the doorway on his way kunyora. GOAT DEAD. Two agemates would exchange words during a muratina fest. GOAT DEAD. Etc etc........
