Deadly snake because it never runs away stands it's ground and if stepped on bites ferociously injecting the victim with venom.

Puff adder is the leading killer snake in Africa (not the deadliest- that will be black Mamba). This is due to its serious ability to camouflage. Plus its hunting habit is lying camouflaged in twigs kwa shamba or along pathways until prey comes within striking distance. This can go on for days so it is usually very easy to step on it kwa shamba or along a footpath.

Most literature say that the chances of death from the puff adder bite are small, however, and any fatalities that occur are most likely a result of poor medical care and secondary infection. A polyvalent anti-venom is available for treatment, although most symptoms will be treated as and when they manifest. As some have said that cow need good clinical management otherwise it could loose its limp
