I have always had a problem with the middle crass. When the common folks are complaining of poor health or education services, the middle crass is silent, because they can afford the same from private providers. They fail to see the bigger picture where they could also become victims. If they were vocal like the rest, may be the voices would have been louder.

I do not know where this stupidity eti you can get free health care from private facilities came from. Private health institutions are just that, PRIVATE. Kama hauwezi afford, tembea. The most we can do for you is first aid, na hata hiyo kuwa na kadi ya NHIF.
Wacha niulize, food is even a more basic need than healthcare (you can survive to be 72 years without healthcare, you can't survive three weeks without food). Exactly, to county officials, development is construction and launching of huge buildings, dubbed SubCounty hospitals, without the commensurating personnel/equipment/medical supplies.
Perhaps they are going to private hospitals because the public ones are too far or lack the facilities? Those same private institutions are either owned by or have shareholding or backing of gavament officials who have no interest in providing public healthcare for profit purposes....Kenyans are not stupid the way you always make them to look. Sasa wasianzishe familia because they are not rich??

To be fair to the couple, it's not like they didn't get admitted, but rather there seems to be an issue with how any respiratory illnesses are being dealt with.
The MOH has some guidelines set on how that ought to be dealt with but kwa ground such matters are dealt with in a manner that is at best indifferent.
