Shipment of the 6-aircraft Kenyan MD 530F Cayuse Warrior fleet – which will include a U.S. Army-issued AWR – will be complete by the end of the year. Powered by the Rolls-Royce 250-C30 650shp turbine engine, these aircraft will feature an advanced, all-digital glass cockpit, ballistically tolerant crashworthy fuel system, Harris RF-7850A tactical radio, Rockwell Collins HF-9000D, and the full complement of mission equipment that is standard to the Cayuse Warrior:

- FN Herstal Weapons Management System
- DillonAero Mission Configurable Armament System (MCAS)
- DillonAero Fixed-Forward Sighting System
- 62mm ballistic armor protection
- FN Herstal .50 caliber HMP 400 Machine Gun Pods
- M260 7-shot rocket pods

According to the USG website dsca.mil...

"The Government of Kenya has requested a possible sale of twelve (12) MD 530F weaponized aircraft to include twenty-four (24) Heavy Machine Gun Pod (HMP) 400 systems; wenty-four (24) M260 rocket launchers; four thousand and thirty-two (4,032) M151 rockets; one thousand five hundred and thirty-six (1,536) 2.75-inch M274 smoke signature warhead rockets; and four hundred thousand (400,000) rounds of .50 caliber ammunition. Also included are communications and navigation equipment, contractor logistics support, training, U.S. Government technical assistance, airframe and weapon system spare parts support, Contractor Field Service Representative (CFSR) support, and Special Assigned Airlift Mission (SAAM) flight delivery support. The total estimated cost is $253 million."

Agreed..me thinks we should deploy the fearless pokot warriors against alshabab,trust me,they will clear those fuckers in less than 2weeks.

Even this week some construction workers in mandera were murdered, story imekanyagiwa.

Huko si unaelewa ni siasa na ufisadi. These helos are warfighters, not intelligence gathering tools.

I highly doubt that we can buy gunships, or be allowed to purchase the best.

They have different ideologies why they fight other communities, the kenyatta government tried that strategy to contain sakuia clan in marsabit in 70s by arming garre and borana clans, unaona shida iko marsabit hata yesu na wafwasi wake can't contain that situation.

All the countries you list have formidable economies and military forces. If we cannot even replace a ferry to cross 250 meters of water, we have no business acquiring gunships. Za nini?
