Netanyahu promises to continue war on Gaza despite calls to ceasefire

Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said the war against the Hama will continue until victory is achieved.

According to Al Jazeera, Netanyahu said he will not bow to international pressure.

"We are continuing until we end, until victory, until the end of Hamas, even in the face of international pressure, nothing will stop us," Netanyahu said.

Dozens of people have died, while thousands displaced, not forgetting loss, as properties are being destroyed.

Netanyahu's comment comes a day after the United Nations General Assembly voted for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire during emergencies.

It passed with a large majority of 153 in favour and 10 against, with 23 abstentions. The resolution also reiterated the General Assembly’s demand that all parties comply with their obligations under international law, including international humanitarian law, “notably with regard to the protection of civilians”

According to the UN, prior to the resolution, two amendments making specific reference to extremist group Hamas were voted down by members

"At the start of the session, Assembly President Dennis Francis underscored the urgency of ending the suffering of innocent civilians in Gaza," the UN said in a statement.

“We have one singular priority – only one – to save lives."

It is now 69 days since the Hamas group( from Gaza) attacked Israel.

So far, the UN has reported that at least 360,000 cases of diseases have been detected in crowded shelters for the 1.9 million people displaced by Israel’s military onslaught.

At least 18,412 people have been killed in Gaza, including over 7,000 children. 50,000 people have been injured.

While in Israel, 1,147 people have so far died from the war
