Natembeya started off as a Personal Assistant to the late John Michuki who served as Minister for Security for four years.
He was promoted to Muranga District Officer followed by Murang’a District Commissioner.
He was then appointed as Isiolo County Commissioner in 2016 before his transfer to Narok.
From June 2019, he served as Rift Valley Regional Commissioner until his resignation on 12th January 2022.
Finally, He won the Trans Nzoia gubernatorial seat.
