That old railway line was not designed for speed all the way from Mombasa.
If the Mombasa - Naivasha SGR project was not such a disaster in financing, we could be asking for a similar railway line.
Despite the slow speed, it will still attract loads of passengers as long as the ticket price is kept reasonable.
But for a business man/ woman it makes no sense.
For an extra 4k on top of the train business class ticket fare, one can be more productive by flying from Wilson airport.
Catch the first morning flight from Nairobi to Kisumu ( after the train has departed for Kisumu).
Attend a 4 hour meeting in a KISUMU CBD hotel, have lunch and after take two Tusker beers, get a taxi to Kisumu airport for a late afternoon return flight to Nairobi. Arrive back in Nairobi ( While those on the train from Nairobi may still be around Chemelil and have not yet at arrived at the Kisumu train station).
