China has only been out of a dominant position for around 200 yrs. Prior to that, it was almost a millenium of them being on top. Shida ni, most of the history that the current world has been taught is Eurocentric. Therefore even the idea that China was once a dominating force in this world is lost on most.

Very true. In the ages when China was ruled by dynasties. There was even a very powerful Chinese king known as Kublai Khan who controlled a very large part of the world.
