The main suspect in the robbery incident that saw Ksh.2.3 million shillings stolen from Prime Bank at the Westside Mall in Nakuru in January has been arrested.

According to a police report, Tobias Juma Mukhuyu was arrested at Nashianda trading centre in Bumula, Bungoma County following an operation by Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Officers from Nakuru East.

Nakuru Town East Criminal Investigative Officer in charge George Momanyi said Mukhuyu is believed to be the architect of the robbery following a review of CCTV footage.

On January 26, 2022, five gangsters stormed into the banking hall wielding a homemade gun, hammer, knives and a panga; and took hostage the nine staff members on duty.

The thugs reportedly directed them into the toilets and locked them inside, then began ransacking the cash drawers.
