LIFE'S MOST IMPORTANT LESSONS

I come in peace Senators. I must be pretty younger than some of you, gauging by how you speak like we are in the seventies. I know many of you are great people out there. Great, I say, because many of you are here because MCAs were always cleaning your eyes on the other side and yet your priorities are retirement homes, managing lifestyle diseases, disciplining your grandchildren and offsetting that 50-year-old loan. You had to follow Meria and Co for sanity. Life has basically forced you to focus on the important as the others greet each other via coitus.

I am currently on the edge. The pandemic has pushed many of us at that point. This made me remember a French saying ‘Palipo na Wazee Hapaharibiki Jambo’. This when loosely translated to queen’s mother tongue means ‘Meria and Co should pin such posts so that the great senators can advise everyone in the village on Do’s and Don’ts of life. Just pick any random important life lesson, and post it here so that we all benefit from it.’ Attached is a stock photo. On the right is most of you. On the left is me. Asanteni Wakubwa.

Simply put, what you do today determines your tomorrow.

As a young man, sacrifice your first 10-15 years of employment/earning to:
1) further your skills
2) build a reliable network of friends
3) acquire assets
4) get a family

If you can crack those years (takes a lot of sacrificing), then you are set for life.

Avoid women. After 40, you become the hunted.

On modern marriages: Speaking only from my observation, many young people fall in love. It happens all the time and social media has helped make this the norm nowadays.

Unfortunately, it means that they can fall out of love when the initial endearing circumstances dictate otherwise.

Marriage is a serious undertaking people... I mean, you engage someone and eventually 'become one' not just with the individual but also their family and for someone like me married to a Meru who belongs to a different tribe, assimilate their culture and norms into future generations.

Being a 1st-time dad, I can attest that looking after children is a monumental task that unfortunately many modern men are fleeing away from.

You see, you can't have your cake and eat it too especially when loved ones are involved. Basically, you can't maintain your selfish nature and expect things to go right with you.

Why men neglect their kids and the women they swore to always love, I frankly will never understand. Obviously, some partners are wicked and eventually show their true colour once you've settled down but if we are to win the war against all that is facing the family unit, we have to ape our forefathers and be the sober adults needed to steer the monumental ship of parenthood.

I stand to be corrected.

My best advice to you? Buy land. Buy more land. And buy yet more land.

Buy it in Kacheliba, Kapedo, Loki, wherever; just do your due diligence and get the titles. Better still, buy it in counties near Nairobi - Laikipia, Nyandarwa, Nakuru, Machakos, Kajiado etc.

And don't buy 'over-heated' land, buy what people generally don't want to buy.

When I was younger, I thought I was smart and invested the way 'Whites' do - shares, money funds and stuff. I've never recovered from that shit.

If I had bought land I would be a bona fide billionaire.

Buy land son, the bonobos are breeding like rats and sooner than later, somebody will want to buy it back from you. At a premium.

Another thing son, which I learned the other day and which somehow goes against what somebody has written up here, LIVE LIKE YOU"LL NEVER DIE. NEVER THINK OF DEATH, otherwise you are going to become a poor philosopher lamenting that 'all is vanity'.

Make your plans for empire whether you are 20 or 65, it's never too late. Plan long-term, and know that its never over until its over. This winning mentality is why Kirubi is still investing at nearly 80, it is why Raila is chasing the presidency at 75 and why Biden got it at 77. A WINNING MENTALITY. Those that build empires and leave legacies have it; they do not let time limit them.

Land can be tricky, just look at the murders and other crimes involving land disputes. But if done right, it is worth more than gold.

Boss, everything is tricky.

In 2006, I took the risk of establishing 40 nominee accounts with a stock-broker I trusted to apply for me KenGen shares (borderline illegal). He did so on account that my then existing portfolio covered the entire investment. The use of nominee accounts was meant to go around the limitation of minimum allocations to each person due to over-subscription; each account acts as a person.

When KenGen did the allocations and the IPO prices nearly doubled, the broker refused with HALF of them; they were worth a cool 2m in profits in just 2 months. He stole it from me live live eti I had not paid for the accounts.

You know what would have happened if the KenGen IPO had tanked? Angenisukumia accounts zote I absorb the loses.

So you would understand when I say am glad the darn guy is dead now. The lesson being, you can get ferked anywhere..............

Stay away from cigarettes, alcohol, processed foods, too much salt, sugar and do exercise daily....even brisk walking will do.

Your body may seem invincible in your youth, but it will start fading from 40 years.
