Wadau,

Kuna a friend of mine who is considering buying these Pajero IOs zimewekwa kwa mawe huku Donholm. Shida tu ni eti engine ndio imesumbua the mechanics na owners. Yeye ameona opportunity; a cheap vehicle to go to ocha with once a month, and can do trips around the city.

Now, kizungumkuti iko hapa. Akiamua ibaki na hizo GDI engines, of course gari itamkula kichwa. Solution ni kuchapa engine swap.

With some little research inaonekana the best engines kuchapa engine swap ni 4G63 na 6A12. Hii swap inawezekana kweli ama ni kutafuta 4G94 nonGDI?

All engine swaps are possible it just depends on the technician, and how far they are willing to go. That said there is an important principle that i like to use when approaching matters, avoiding the Presumption of stupidity : believing that other people are stupid or uncreative. People will look at other peoples decisions and identify inefficiencies or bad decisions, and decide that those conditions exist because of dumb decisions on the part of the person. In this case there is likely to be a good reason why those Pajero's ziko kwa mawe, and the owners likely will not disclose this. Ask your friend to go deep and find the reason.

GDI are worse as they come. utakuwa una weka oil daily, hizo engine hukunyua oil kama vile kunguru za river road hukunyua Guinness, Engine overheating, serious carbon issues than you care to deal with. thats the main reason hizo gari zimelala. repairing the GDI thats is already old is costly and keeping regular maintainance is something kenyans are not known for so keep off that engine. as @Ole Waru amesema an engine swap is possible when done by a professional. its even possible to plant a boxer and its gearbox in there as long as its done well it will feel like it belongs there.

@Introvert would you like to comment on this?
Yes, Ogiek.
I have great disdain for those GDI and Pajero paper mache Diesels.
The iO engine is transverse mounted, meaning you can plonk in anything as long as it fits in the engine bay.
Just get a mech who knows his shait and you can build the car any way you like.
It was a bjit of an overkill, but for this Pajero tulitoa 4D56 Diesel in favour of Toyota 1UZ V8 Petrol.
Throws the car around like a rag doll on steroids.
