The incident happened Wednesday 23rd June 2021 at around 0530hrs at at Bombo area, Kiteje Sub Location, Ng’ombeni Location, Matuga Sub County within Kwale County. The incident happened approximately 5kms south of the Police Patrol Base.
The Elite Police unit acting on credible intelligence report stormed a suspected Al-Shabaab militant’s den in the above-mentioned vicinity. Intelligence report indicate that the militants from Somalia were at an advanced stage of staging an attack at a security outpost within the coastal county of Kwale with an intention of looting weaponry.
During the incident one unknown suspect was critically shot while two others managed to flee with gun wounds. The incident also saw assortment of weapons and items recovered upon search; One (1) AK47 rifle s/no. 7126, One hundred and forty three (143) rounds of 7.62×39mm special, Three hundred and thirty seven (337) rounds of 9×19mm, Two hundred and fifty eight (258) rounds of .22mm, Twenty five (25) rounds of super slug special, One (1) hp laptop, One (1) 16gb flash disc, Nine (9) assorted mobile phones, Two measuring jars; small and large, One (1) funnel, One (1) conical flask, One hundred (100) grams of magnesium metal powder, One (1) rubber water bottle, One (1) box of filter paper, One (1) mp3 player, Three electric bulbs and a note listing targeted areas
