Landlord and tenant association(LATAK) has ordered all tenants to stop paying rent citing difficult times as Kenya fights Covid-19 pandemic.

They said that following President Uhuru Kenyatta's order for people to stay at home most Kenyans were not going to work and cannot be able to pay rent.

"Landlords are not allowed to harrase, disconnect electricity or water to tenants for not paying."Association's Secretary General Ben Liyai said urging landlords who had challenges implementing the same to seek clarification by texting the word "Landlord or Tenant" to 20777

But for majority especially those in informal areas that’s nearly all their rent!

LATAK is bullshit. Just like that Maendeleo ya Wanaume shit.
For me, I contacted all my tenants who hadn't paid by 5th. They came with all sort of stories. I asked them to vacate and go to their ushagos since they weren't doing anything constructive. Offered to keep their stuff safe for the period of their absence.
They paid.
