We share the status alongside South Africa, Egypt, Nigeria and Morocco.

Obviously, wealth does not tell the whole story and The Human Development Index is a better indicator, but still, always nice to know that we are revered giants on the continent.

Actually were it not for minerals in SA and Nigeria that gives them the advantage over us and the Moi error between 1992-2002, probably we would have been #2. The other problem and a big one is wealth distribution. We might be wealthy but probably that wealth is concentrated in the hands of a few.

He kept on talking about agriculture and that's an area that needs a lot of attention. Right now, 40% of Pakistani's rice plains are flooded and India has responded by hiking export tariffs of the same food commodity.

This means, we really need to act our act together as what the Ukrainian conflict taught us about wheat is that food sufficient is really important. Now JS being from the North Rift, I'm sure he knows all too well the reforms needed in that sector. So, we keep our hopes alive.
