Investors Reacting to High Food Prices

Seems like the high food prices have encouraged more people into farming. I have witnessed a number of people, not counting the dynastic kid, putting down some serious investments in as little as a few acres, sometimes growing common crops such as maize. This goes to show that poor crop prices have been the main bottleneck to food sufficiency. Something else, I bet more people would be willing to invest in farming if land were more easily available. May be we should have measures, such as taxation, to discourage land owners from keeping their land idle.

Taxation may help but it's not the silver bullet. If I have idle land and I know the government will tax me, I can simply plant nappier grass and it ceases being idle.

The thing is there has to be a total change of mindset by Kenyans when it comes to land. Some people don't view land as a factor of production. Quite a number of people buy land so that when they die wazikwe huko.

Folks also want to be sure of the source of the food they ingest.
With so much contamination of food products with carcinogens and other dangerous chemicals, it is safer whenever possible, to grow ones own food.
This cannot be overemphasised especially when you have an irresponsible and corrupt Government full of criminal cartels selling expired and condemned foods.

Upus iko na watu is unrivalled . Of what value is it if I am buried pale cemetery or kainuk ?
Having a reference point is good for family tree and lineage. Your kids will always know where paps/grandpa and several generations came from. Is it of value, depends how you wanna see it.

Do you know where kericho bus stop sits used to be a graveyard? In the next 100 years your great grandkids would not be aware you ever existed , even if your photos exist then, they would just be thrown in the trash can
