Seems like the high food prices have encouraged more people into farming. I have witnessed a number of people, not counting the dynastic kid, putting down some serious investments in as little as a few acres, sometimes growing common crops such as maize. This goes to show that poor crop prices have been the main bottleneck to food sufficiency. Something else, I bet more people would be willing to invest in farming if land were more easily available. May be we should have measures, such as taxation, to discourage land owners from keeping their land idle.
