The reason why energy regulatory commission has not come for him for all this time is because such small power plant can't be connected to the national grid given the fact it produces just 1000V.

We shouldn't glorify mediocrity.
Third World mindset and way of reasoning.
In any other decent country, investors would come together to make a profitable organisation out of talented people like him.
In a shot hole banana republic, investment means badly finished houses and empty malls.
If we can't believe in ourselves us a race, we will remain the inferior race for ever.

If you are doing something that has been done before, the least you can do is to do it in a better way. Not welding together parts and calling it a power station. There's no innovation there, just poor copy-paste.

I disagree with you here, it was not about doing anything in a better way, it was more about providing a missing service, first in his home and second to his neighbors homes who have provided a demand for his service.

He was not competing with anybody. He just provided a basic service that was missing with the few resources he had/has and he should be damn proud of it. Overtime I am sure his product has improved and will continue to improve even in future

This is the most defeatist mentality there is, because someone doesn't have the resources to match up they shouldn't start? Mobius shouldn't start because they don't have the resources to match up to local assembly dealers Mahindra, VW? You shouldn't start a hotel because you don't have the resources to match up Kempinski food? What's new under the ☀?
Everyone should have the opportunity to start something, doesn't need to be perfect but needs to work, then can iterate from there.

This is innovation, it's lean building right there without the fluff you're calling for.

We shouldn't glorify mediocrity.
Or waste valuable time and scarce resources reinventing the wheel.
Shouldn’t we be asking ourselves why KPLC or whoever is responsible for distributing electricity hasn’t connected those folks to electric which is theirs by right?
The failure of the Electric Provider to connect these folks is forcing them to engage in these attempts which could be a threat to their health and safety. Surely.

I didn't see any resources being wasted in that clip.
If anything, the guy has used recycled materials and for all we know,he could be a jobless Engineering graduate with a lot of time on his hands.
He has chosen to get off his backside and put into practice his skill unlike other graduates whinging and whining about lack of employment.
And his ambitions have gone on to help another fourteen households!!!!!
How can you criticize this?
We all know that the government can't or won't help because it's a self serving and unaccountable so what is a villager living off grid to do?; Sit and cry?...
Revolutions start with people who are fed up and who have an alternative way of getting things done for the betterment of the majority.

Don’t get me wrong here @Kabuda. I am in admiration of this Guy. But what he has done should be done in a Laboratory or under Supervision of professionals. The Government body responsible for Electrical Distribution ought to connect these folks to the grid.
Given this Guy’s ingenuity, the Government /KPLC should give him an enabling environment to advance himself either through work or grants to acquire proper and safe equipment.
His rudimentary plant could cost more harm than good. Electrical power is not a child’s play.
