Omena is common in our homesteads and whoever doesn’t like Omena is missing on important nutrients. Epuka magonjwa, kula Omena.
Omena has numerous health benefits. Its nutrients are very useful since it’s rich in Calcium, Vitamin A and proteins.
Below is my Omena recipe, try it and thank me later.
Ingredients
¼ kg omena
1 tomato
1 onion
Tomato paste
Cooking oil
Salt
Spices of your choice
Procedure
Deep omena in hot water for 3 minutes, this help to eliminate sand from omena’s head
While the omena is still in hot water, chop the onion and tomato in separate bowls.
Heat your pan in moderate heat.
Add cooking oil in your heated pan
While the cooking oil is settling, drain water from your omena and put it in a bowl
Carefully add your washed omena in the heating cooking oil
Stir for few seconds and let it fry
Add salt to taste, and stir
Add your chopped onions and stir
After 2 minutes add your chopped tomato and tomato paste
Stir carefully unit it cooks to your preference
Serve it with hot ugali
