Now that every Kenyan has taken social distancing so seriously, men have stocked up on food and alcohol, they are happy they are not being pressured to take women on dates.
This only means two things, their savings are now healthier than before and single women are now a worried lot.
Here is a list of how I feel this whole quarantine period has affected single women in Kenya.
No more ‘tuma fare’
As much as this is a disadvantage to the single ladies who capitalize on desperate men for their financial gain, it is more of a win for the boychild.
So with the country currently on partial lockdown, why would she be sending that “Babe tuma fare” text?
No reason to put on fancy shoes/clothes
Speaking of no reason to tuma fare, that means together with the other women they have been reduced to just staring at their fancy 6” shoes and those designer clothes.
Well unless she is taking a couple of indoor photos just to feel pretty.
Stockings on, nails undone
It is only logic that single women go all the way to pamper themselves so as to look pretty enough to compete with their fellow women who are off the market.
In order to win the race, they will ensure their hair and nails are always fresh and their fashion taste is ever trendy.
Now with the entire nation staying at home, they at least have a reason to smile since they are in no pressure to do all that whatsoever.
They have now resorted to using those leggings to cover their hair day and night, with pyjamas complimenting the look.
Normalizing clean and healthy food
Unlike their male counterparts, at least single ladies have a few sufurias, a gas cylinder and a few foodstuffs at home.
So what this whole quarantine thing means is; They will now have to rely on their willingness to cook to stay alive and not those random dinner dates from their prospects.
Blue ticks are gone
Sometimes it baffles me that most single women have the audacity to ignore your whatsapp messages aka blueticking despite their relationship status.
However I tend to think it is because they know team mafisi members will always be on their case no matter what.
However this is the moment when the single ladies remember that they have a lot of time in their hands and the boredom takes them back to that guy who texted them last Easter. I mean, everyone loves the feeling of being wanted right?
So ladies, now is the time to mend those broken ties or rather extinguish the fires you lit on those bridges. Because “Quarantine is coming, where is your boyfriend?”
