Why is it that most matatus za Coast are "Nissans" ?

In Nbo and Western Toyotas take the lead. Any reason for this ?
Nissans at the Coast (sea level) are more powerful than their counterparts at higher altitudes upcountry. This means that they do not have to struggle much with acceleration and hill-climbs as they would in Nairobi and Western. Given that they are much cheaper than Toyotas but with an equally satisfactory performance at sea level, they become the natural choice at the Coast.
A naturally aspirated vehicle loses about 10% of its power for every 1000m climb in altitude. If we assume Nairobi to be at an average elevation of 1500m, it means Nissans in Nairobi are 15% less powerful than their Coast counterparts. That is the reason Nissans in elevated areas display sluggish acceleration and slow hill climbs. Toyotas too experience this power reduction. However, this power loss is less noticeable because their engines are more powerful.
