I live in a European country and this time of year is disheartening instead of being joyful. The waste that happens in the name of Christmas is astounding. Already, the traffic is getting heavier with people traveling for shopping trips to buy each other gifts they will never use, new house decorations... of course bigger and better than the neighbors, more food than will be needed... I could go on. Some shops were even decorated way back in August! And some of my neighbors already have their decorative outdoor lights shining all night every night into the new year.. All the while 'worrying' about the environment.
End of rant.

I am a Christian. End of. I celebrate Christ's birth and the significance of His death and resurrection every other day.
As to having Christmas and Easter, that's beyond me, to be honest, and I don't begrudge anyone who chooses to observe them days.

This is true, my money my choice. I am just baffled at the mindless consumerism and the misery that sometimes follows. Here there is such a thing as a Christmas loan. Undoubtedly for the poorest in society who feel the pressure to keep up.

There are traditions that are to be kept...Passover, Yom Kippur, Yom Hashoah , Communion and many more. Why we observe them is not as religious ceremonies but because of their significance. You won't know until you experience it.
