Have had a rather interesting day today. There's work that we have been trying to get done but needed to outsource because it's specialized, so have been getting these people wanasema it'll take 1-2 weeks and cost an arm and a leg.
So leo was browsing through interwebs and landed on a gig site called fiverr, with all these independent gig people. Nikaona there's a segment that deals with what we wanted done. I see an Indian guy who's profile says he's doing a PhD in that field and I message him about our needs. 15 minutes later he replies back and brief him on what we want done. He charges 75$ for the work na kuna mtu alisema 550$. The most amazing thing within 2 hours alikuwa ametuma v1 ya kazi for review hata kabla hajalipwa.

And version 2 for review was sent about 2 hours ago. By kesho naona hii kazi itakuwa imeisha and he's offered unlimited reviews until we're satisfied. It's been a very long time since I've seen such a quick turn around time for outsourced work to a complete stranger. I have loved that guy, and I have loved that platform. I'm still amazed. I will never ever scratch my head about work again na kuna watu kama hao.

Kenyans (my brothers and sisters) are very entitled. Some want to get paid for doing nothing others want to be paid exorbitantly for shoddy or minimal work. Discipline hakuna...can't keep time...can't keep promises...Kenyans are polite to clients when they are starting a business after that they start showing the same customers their behind.....pesa imeingia...

Hakuna kitu kama hiyo. Once you gain experience and good referrals you can charge what you are worth without worrying about the client getting it cheap elsewhere.

Also, hiyo PHD kwa title ni chocha tu, that guy probably ni broker with a team that works on the projects. Hizi tricks tumezitumia Upwork and know them
