- In the last 24hrs, 1,540 people tested positive from 9,348 samples (16.5%), bringing the total tally to 124,707.

- From these cases, 1,446 were Kenyans while 94 were foreigners; 829 being males and 711 females.

- The youngest was a 6-month old infant while the oldest was 110.

- Nairobi had 865 cases, Nakuru 139, Machakos 82, Kiambu 76, Kajiado 42, Uasin Gishu 36, Turkana 33, Mombasa 29, Kericho 20, Kisumu 20, Trans Nzoia 17, Kitui 17, Narok 14, Migori 13, Bomet 12, Bungoma 12, Kilifi 12, Nyeri 12, Garissa 12, Nandi 12, Kisii 8, Laikipia 7, Meru 7, Tharaka Nithi 7, Mandera 6, Nyandarua 6, Siaya 4, Kakamega 3, Elgeyo Marakwet 3, Busia 2, Makueni 2, Murang’a 2, Baringo 2, Tana River 1, West Pokot 1, Homa Bay 1, Kirinyaga 1, Kwale 1 and Lamu 1.

- The cases in Kiambu came from Ruiru (20), Kikuyu (19), Kiambu Town (7), Thika (7), Kiambaa (6), Juja (5), Kabete (4), Lari (3), Limuru (3) and Githunguri (2).

- In the last 9 days, Nairobi has had a total increase of 5,718 cases, Kiambu 888, Nakuru 626, Machakos 414, Kajiado 199, Nyeri 100, Kericho 58.

- Nairobi’s contribution to this positivity is a staggering 57.7%.

- 184 patients have recovered, 95 are from home while 89 are from various hospitals, bringing recoveries to 90,770.

- 1,073 patients are currently admitted in various hospitals while 3,315 patients are on home-based care.

- 141 patients are in ICU, 34 of whom are on ventilators and 99 on supplemental oxygen. 8 patients are on observation.

- Another 60 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen with 48 of them in the general wards and 12 in HDU.

- 18 more patients died, out of whom 1 occurred in the last 24 hours while 17 were late death reports from facility record audits that occurred on diverse dates, pushing fatalities to 2,066.

These stats do lie every day.
In Kenya, they test only when you take yourself to hospital. That means, a large number go to hospital coz they are already unwell. So if you take 10 people in the hospital and test them for a disease, it's likely 9 are ailing. The govt of Kenya doesn't test random people! But increase in number seeking hospitalization can be used to gauge the extent of community spead.
Then there's that small group who will take themselves after having contact with a confirmed case. Of course this only happens to those with cash.
The other group is that seeking clearance certificate. That's the only group that can show the real positivity rate.

Me I take all precautions. I don't underestimate this fuckta virus.

What I don't understand is all the playing with numbers and obsfucated language in these reports.

Why don't they say one person died yesterday? Why don't they do more to capture the numbers correctly? Why is this blatant incompetence being tolerated, even encouraged?

Because we stupidly devolved health. Hata coordination hakuna! Most of our county governments are too incompetent to run the whole health docket! Afadhali wangepewa up to level 3 hospitals. Level 4 and above should be centrally run. So should be public health.

This govt has been under reporting deaths from day 1 intentionally. They have the exact number of suspected covid 19 deaths but report funny figures perhaps to paint a good image internationally.
