i would want to believe it all stems from the old culture where women weren't allowed to work.
so in case of divorce, they had to be given something to be able to take care of themselves and he children.
also since the men were busy working, it was automatic that the mother would be given custody of the children and also upkeep.

but times have changed and so should the rules.
i advocate for men to stand up and demand the laws are changed to ensure equal rights to all.
