Coming to Nairobi

Wakati wa kula Christmas huko ushago, nilikutana na wale jamaa wa "si nikupee cv unitafutie kazi yoyote huko Nairobi" and it got me thinking of how I got to this city.
I came to Nairobi courtesy of JAB kuingia huko UoN, ironically enough for my first choice course straight from high school. I was blessed enough to have gotten a decent job by my last year and had moved out of hostels and sub let my room. Sikuwahi sumbuana na relatives ati host me, find me a job and having them lord that over me ati how they helped me, ama vile wanafanya ukue mboch wao because they're hosting you. Have known quite a number of people walikosana juu ya hii mambo.

How did you get to this city, or whichever town you started life from? What's your story?

Btw excellent topic. Hizi ni vitu wengine kama mimi wenye tumezaliwa na kuishi Nairobi miaka yetu yote huwa hatujui ama hatufikirii.

Nakumbuka my first time nikienda attachment Diani nikaulizwa natoka wapi, nikajibu Nairobi. Nikaambiwa Nairobi sio nyumbani kwa mtu, ni mji watu huenda kutafuta riziki, wakishapata, wakimaliza au wakishindwa wanarudi makwao.

I graduated with high hopes of life back at 2013 , the first character development came from my aunt who works at scania .
She had promised to get me a job as a sales person.
First incident was as I travelled from eldoret (schooled at moi main campus ) to Nairobi after clearing ,she switched off her phone since I was to sleep at her house . Nilifika kanairo SAA tano with eldoret Express and my loving aunt was mteja ,slept at a friend's city home.God bless you Elizabeth and your mom for hosting me that tragic night.
Second incident is when is asked the aunt about Ile job alinipromise, she told me I should never rely on her since she never relied on anyone to secure her job( as if women can rely on other thing).
But God is great I am okey even though the journey was tough.

For most of us, after completing college studies is the most humbling experience in life.
People forget, assume and avoid you like plague. Kazi za Eck (Iebc) really came along to help at the lowest moments. Hanging that bag around your shoulder was a badge of honour for most.
The worst is indulging in the pit of self denial when there are no openings and turning to cheap second generation alcohol. There used to be sachets that were so hard.... you sweat. Is Napoleon still in the shelf?
Mungu ni mwema.

Came to Nai first round in 2000 Dec, it beat me 1- 0 without appeal. Nikatoka 2001, came back 2002 till 2004 showed me middo finger. All the while studying. Nikachoka na Kanairo and came back in 2014. Its a good place if you learn the ropes and opportunities favour you, you can rise like a shooting star. Relatives can be your pillar or your bane here.
