Colorado Supreme Court disqualifies Donald Trump from 2024 ballot

The Supreme Court in Colorado State in the United States has ruled that Donald Trump will not be on the State's ballot come November 2024.

This, however, does not affect other states.

The court stated that Trump should be removed from the ballot after determining that he engaged in insurrection on 6 January 2021.

Four Judges voted yes against three, making the judgment the first of its kind to kick out a presidential candidate from the ballot.

"We do not reach these conclusions lightly. We are mindful of the magnitude and weight of the questions now before us. We are likewise mindful of our solemn duty to apply the law, without fear or favor, and without being swayed by public reaction to the decisions that the law mandates we reach," the ruling read.

According to the BBC, Trump's campaign team has vowed to appeal the decision to the country's Supreme Court.

In the latest polls conducted in the country, Trump is leading by 47 per cent as likely to be voted president, and current President Joe Biden is at 43 per cent.
