In 1994, former President of Malawi,Bakili Muluzi promised to give all Malawians a pair of shoes if elected.

After winning the election,he said there was no way he could know the shoe sizes of all of them & that it was impossible for him to fulfill his promise.

In my own constituency of Mathira in Nyeri County, I am reliably informed that there used to be one D N Kuguru who used to promise water to every home during campaigns. Apparently he would lay water pipes all over and ask people to start digging ditches.

The funny thing is that all those pipes used to disappear on the night after elections only to appear 5 years later!

True...and his electoral symbol used to be a panga. Ile kutakatwa wasee walikuwa wanakatwa katwa during campaigns was of immense proportions. Real blood used to flow..
