In case you haven't heard of it, Eco Farmhouse is a quaint and cozy farm set on a 500-acre mature fruit farm in Makuyu, Muranga County.
The place is well known for:
-Its exclusive treehouse nestled in a mango tree grove with gorgeous views of the farm, Mt Kenya, and the Greater Aberdare Range.
-Guests get guided tours on the farm seeing different plantations among them; dragon fruit farms, pomegranate, mango, avocado trees, private dams, and a river that one can fish from.
-One can also see ostriches on the huge farm.
How does one get there?
The farm is located 80 km from Nairobi along the Thika-Nyeri Highway. Ruiru is 48 km from the farm, while Embu is 41 km away.
Things you need to know:
-The house accommodates 4 guests and has two bedrooms with 2 queen-size beds and a bath in each.
-The cost for a one-night stay is $174 dollars( Ksh19,775).
-Check-in: 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM
-Checkout: 10:00 AM
What does one need for their stay?
-One will need to source everything that they need for essentials ahead of coming to the farm, however, staff on-site will be happy to provide guidance should one need something.
Pros
-Pocket-friendly
-Friendly staff.
-Pleasant luxurious and comfortable cabin with a magnificent view of the mango trees and the countryside.
-The diversity of things one can do-from ostrich feeding to biking, fishing, and taking a guided tour of the fruit farm.
-Calm and peace.
Cons
-No wifi but a Safaricom dongle will be provided free of charge to guests.
-There are snakes around the property but if you don't disturb them they won't disturb you!
-One must not leave the fenced house area at night.
-Not ideal for children and infants.
-No smoking allowed.
-No pets allowed.
-No parties. (Stag or hen nights!)
-The property only accepts cash payments.
-Quiet hour is from 9 pm.
-Mosquitoes can be a concern.
