I have to respectfully disagree. Our family friends' daughter went through similar.
The parents are religious and were having none of it.
As a result the child was very miserable.
After a few years of resistance the whole family went to counselling and after a lot of research relented and mum even brought her to Turkey to have her breasts removed. He was prescribed hormones and he is now very manly in appearance and behaviour.
He also is happy and pursuing a doctorate.
A far cry from when he didn't leave his room and was toying with suicide.
To me the kind hearted person that he always was remains. And he is comfortable in his new body.
Why should he be miserable to make the rest of us comfortable?
I fail to understand. Where were these kinds of people when we were growing up. In fact my language doesn't have a word for a sewer stirrer, for example...

mtu mzima akiamua kukata sehemu zake.. shida yake.. what bothers me most is giving hormone blockers to pre adolescent kids.. because they are "convinced" that they are in the wrong body..
for instance when I was young, many kids wanted to be bruce lee.. Jet Li.. Commando etc.. none of our parents bought us skin whiteners or hormones to increase our muscles... we grew out of it

In the past some communities used to kill or and dispose their disabled. Some are still kept out of sight.
Basically they avoided dealing with the things they didn't understand.
With this in mind, I'd say most people conformed to what was perceived as 'normal'.
I think discussing the issues freely has enabled people to express themselves and perhaps feel emboldened knowing that they are not alone.

I believe before they get the hormones they go through intensive assessments as well as counselling for the whole family.
The mum I talk about confided that for her she chose to have a daughter that became a son than having a dead daughter.

Similarly, in the Kikuyu and Meru tribes in Kenya, special religious leaders called mugawe dressed and wore their hair like women, and in some cases were even recognised as being married to other men.
=This is bullshit!
Ambiguous gender - Where someone was born with double organs is an understandable congenital defect. Should not be mixed up with people who choose to be sewer stirrers or grinders.
During the 18th and 19th centuries in the Ashanti Kingdom, male concubines in Ghana were a common sight. These male concubines were sex slaves who were expected to dress and act as women. Furthermore, in the Dahomey Kingdom in Ghana, males who were castrated during rituals served as royal wives within the upper courts. These eunuchs were regarded as more female than male and occupied influential positions in the courts, thus granting them extensive power over the Kingdom.
-
You wouldn't say this is out of choice homosexuality. Someone volunteered to be a eunuch and wife? No, I don't think so. My thought is that it was one of the ways power structures (dominance and subservience) were maintained rather than sexual expression. Nimechoka.

Hii ni upus! How quickly did the Ds become "bosses"?
How many years are there between fourth form and receiving a Master's in Kenya? Especially if you consider most people prefer going the longer route because a "parallel is for failures" and is "cheaper". Also, consider that the time may vary according to course type.

Charles Owino differs with CS Matiang’i on police recruitment grades

Police Spokesman Charles Owino on Wednesday differed with his boss, Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i, on the eligibility of recruits into the National Police Service.

In an interview on Citizen tv Wednesday, Owino defended the move to recruit those who got a minimum KCSE grade of D Plus, because officers with higher grades would return to colleges and acquire degrees and thereafter seek promotions, hence jeopardizing service delivery.

“We have a challenge when we employ every policeman with grade C plus and above because they go back to school, they get their degrees and then they come back and say that they do not want to serve at a certain level. It is important we get officers who have C plain, C minus and D plus,” said Owino.

Maybe what they need to do is have a two tier recruitment like we have for army Private recruits and officer cadets. The police system should also have a scheme for specialist technical officers such as in IT, biosciences, engineering, procurement, finance, audit and accounts etc to deal with modern criminal enterprises.

my fear is that we have opened pandoras box with LGBTQ+.
what happens tomorrow if one wants to be a fish?
are you okay with those claiming to be born as pedophiles?
what justification would one use to allow one change gender, have sex with same gender but refuse one who who is attracted to children?

so if tomorrow we start accepting pedophiles and rapists and serial killers and cannibals coz they claim that's how they were/are born and there is no need of living a miserable life trying to make us comfortable, i hope you and the rest of the world will be okay with it.

but personally, i have no issues with those who claim to be of a different gender or attracted to the same gender, as much as am okay if one claims to be born a rapist or a killer or a terrorist.

the rules we live by are to make civilization livable. if we go back to living in the jungle, all rules/regulations/laws are off.

Pope Francis indicates support for same-sex civil unions

Pope Francis has said that he thinks same-sex couples should be allowed to have "civil unions".
He made the comments, which observers say are his clearest remarks yet on gay relationships, in a documentary directed by Evgeny Afineevsky.

"Homosexual people have a right to be in a family," he said in the film, which premiered on Wednesday.
"They are children of God and have a right to a family. Nobody should be thrown out or made miserable over it.

"What we have to create is a civil union law. That way they are legally covered."
He added that he "stood up for that", apparently referring to his time as Archbishop of Buenos Aires when, although opposing same-sex marriages in law, he supported some legal protections for same-sex couples.

CNA Staff, Nov 1, 2020 / 04:55 pm MT (CNA).- The Vatican’s Secretary of State has asked papal representatives to share with bishops some clarifications regarding comments on civil unions made by Pope Francis in a recently released documentary, according to the apostolic nuncio to Mexico.
The clarifications explain that the pope’s comments do not pertain to Catholic doctrine regarding the nature of marriage as a union between one man and one woman, but to provisions of civil law.
“Some statements, contained in the documentary ‘Francisco’ by screenwriter Evgeny Afineevsky, have provoked, in recent days, various reactions and interpretations. Therefore, some helpful points are offered, with the desire to present an adequate understanding of the Holy Father's words,” Archbishop Franco Coppolo, apostolic nuncio, posted on Facebook Oct. 30."

so we can say, the pope approves but the Church disapproves?
but it's just a matter of time before the church caves, in the same way, it has accepted women and men wearing each other's clothes, weird dancing, women preaching......

just a matter of when
(then accepts the next big thing and so on)

You are not comparing like for like. One is the freedom to be who you truly are and maybe love someone else consensually.
For rape, paedophilia and terrorism there is violence and harm and definitely no consent.

The church has to keep up with the society or lose relevance.
A couple of years ago in my church there was a complaint made to the Bishop by a busybody that the two women running the choir had recently gotten married and that he should do something about it.
When he didn't do anything, the busy body went to the papers.
The parishioners were outraged when the couple quit due to the publicity visited on them.
The parishioners got together and asked them back coz they were actually very good.
They also made sure that outsiders and press did not make a spectacle.
Then weeks later the Bishop came and preached about love and tolerance without endorsing anything.
It shows you can disagree but tolerate.
