Blow to Alfred Keter as UDA nullifies win

Dispute resolution team cancels his victory in the party primaries citing malpractice.

The verdict delivered on Friday says that Mr Keter main challenger Bernard Kitur had proved beyond reasonable doubt that the nominations which took place on Tuesday were marred by irregularities and illegalities which negatively impacted the outcome of the entire exercise.
"A declaration be and is hereby issued that the decision of the returning officer declaring the first respondent (Mr Keter) as the presumptive nominee for the position of Member of Parliament, Nandi Hills Constituency, is null and void," reads the ruling.

The incumbent MP Alfred Keter was declared the winner of the primaries held on Tuesday after garnering 10,363 votes against his closest challenger Bernard Kitur who got 7,468 votes.

This is actually a first in my memory of a nomination nullification of a seemingly strong candidate over irregularities. At least UDA is walking the talk. The RO accused Keter of locking them up in a store and probably ballot stuffed.

Most of who were conned. Juzi in Embu they had to recruit and train others after the group that worked for them on 14th refused to carry out the repeat elections in some wards because of nonpayment.
