A priest who led a mass and attended a furenal in SIAYA tests positive for COVID-19

A Kenyan priest who led a mass and attended a funeral in Siaya over the weekend tests positive for Coronavirus.

It is alleged that he left Rome, Italy and travelled to South Africa and later came to Kenya. His brother who leaves in Utawala housed him before he travelled to Siaya via Easy Coach.

He was attending a burial of a close family, he stayed in Siaya for 2 weeks.

How many people were at the funeral? How many people attended the pass he presided over? How many people came to visit him while he was in Utawala? How many people were with him on the plane? Or are they the 363 people being traced by the government?

Why didn't he self-quarantine? How are clearance done at JKIA?

Has the brother Left Utawala or is he still LEAVING there?

There is no point of pretending that the government is trying to control the spread of this disease as it has continuously failed to enforce restrictions at points of entry like JKIA, public gatherings like churches......
Waache kutusumbua with policy announcements that are just making an already bad situation worse because pronouncements without commitment are not effective.
Whats the logic ya kwa kujifungia kwa nyumba while infected idiots are busy spreading the disease to the masses.

and they still want us to believe this self quarantine stunt will work ?🤔
Someone proposed GoK quarantines anyone who jets into the country in the houses government built in the affordable and social housing program, it would have been free for Kenyans and cost for foreign nationals, surely it would have been cheaper and kinder to the economy, now we are hemorrhaging hundreds of billions rather than tens of billions.

Don’t you remember ps Kamau Macharia angrily telling Kenyans that they were being racists and xenophobic for suggesting the quarantine of incomers? Especially given that at the time, the plague couriers were their Chinese masters

Macharia should have been relieved of his duties, infact the whole cabinet should be dissolved for their collective absurdity, it is clear the Executive has never contemplated what to do in the event of such an outbreak, they are making policy on the fly rather and are quite poor at it.

Once we are done with Covid19 we need to have a national discourse on Health matters, the next new strain of a potent virus or bacteria or fungi may pop-up close to home, we need to be prepared.

they were suggesting illegal detention for Chinese. Aren't we a country that upholds human rights?
No. They were suggesting quarantine. That’s not racist. It is being sensible. It is allowed under public health act. Now thanks to so called ‘human rights’ poor Kenyans who live hand to mouth are about to face a lockdown. Their very basic right to be allowed to work to meet their basic needs are curtailed. The middle and upper classes will not fare well too. Broke hungry people with no option and families to feed will result in crimes. That’s what you get for ‘human rights’

My dear brothers and sisters. Many of you have been calling to ask us about the messages in the social media. We in the parish wish to make ana official statement to all our parishioners.
RE: FR. RICHARD ODUOR AND COVID-19
Fr. Richard Oduor came to Holy Family Catholic Church Utawala from Rome on Thursday 12th of March 2020. He passed through all the tests for Covid-19 at JKIA. After spending the night in the Parish house, he traveled on Friday the 13th of March to attend a funeral at Ugunja in Siaya County. The same Friday was when the first case of Covid-19 in Kenya was announced and it was someone who came from outside the country the previous week.
We asked Fr. Richard to stay at his home place in Kisumu for 14 days and self-quarantine but he insisted he wanted to come back. We allowed him back on the condition that he would self-quarantine and isolate himself for 14 days. On his arrival on Monday the 16th, we immediately took him to a room at the back of the parish compound (which was formerly a store) and isolated him there. We never allowed him to say any Mass in the Parish (Holy Family) or the outstation (St. Patrick’s, Mavoko).
On Friday, the 20th of March after some fever and vomiting, Fr. Richard was taken to Mbagathi hospital where yesterday we were informed that he tested positive for Covid-19. Unfortunately, even though we made sure that Fr. Richard was in isolation, we learned that during his period of isolation/quarantine, he had (on his own volition) visited some friends. Fr. Richard has taken responsibility for that and tried to inform those he met at this time according to the guidelines from the Ministry of Health.
Since the information about his status became known to us, and even though we had taken all precautions and avoided contact with him throughout the week, as an extra precaution, we have decided to get ourselves tested for Covid-19 tomorrow and also to quarantine ourselves for the next 14 days. Please let us pray for each other as we continue to take the necessary precautions and protect ourselves and our loved ones.
