When was the last time we saw this? Bonds have been undersubscribed for a while now but it seems there is renewed interest.

Signs of an economy that has had its noose loosened. The noose is still around the neck though. We are not even close to being out of the woods.

The supplimentary budget should tell us more.

A fewquestions for you.

1. At what interest rate is the government borrowing? What are the returns on Treasury bills and bonds?

2. Which business in the current shrinking economy can earn you more than lending the government?

3. Have you noticed that interest rates on loans have increased? What is that going to do to the demand? Won't bankers start queueing to lend to the government?

4. What is the effect of increased government borrowing from the local market?
