Former Samburu County Govt CEC Health Mary Ekai Kanyaman among people killed by the suspected armed pokot bandits in Napeitom, Turkana East. The armed bandits reportedly raided the region today in the morning at 2 am.They took livestock belonging to the Father to Mary Kanyaman and the rest of the villages. Mary Kanyaman reportedly mobilized security team from Turkana East Sub-County and ferried them using her vehicle and Police vehicle carrying Security Officers. When the two vehicles reached Maruath near Kamuge, they were ambushed by the bandits. In the process, killing the security officers, Chief Gilbert Lomukuny from Napeitom, one of the villager and Mary Kanyaman herself. The two vehicles are still at the scene.

If true, whoever ordered police to travel in a landcruiser at night seems quite naive.
In laikipia, they use this kind of vehicle every time they are responding to cattle rustling

Matiangi said they think those pokoti warriors are just "normal citizens who have taken cattle raiding too far". Personally I think there was politics in in this issue. Pokotis were known to be Pro-rao. People like kamket survived a UDA wave in a kalenjin land because of that. And that's why police and army officers were massacred again in LNC yet they did little about it.

A question is always asked why is it always the pokots who have a problem with all their neighbours, in all the directions? The only thing they respect is greater force that's why, they relaxed their raid during Daudi Tonje time as chief of staff in the 90's and michuki time, after he had a meeting with their leadership in Eldoret.
