When HIV AIDS landed in Africa, one of the prevention strategy was ABC approach. Corona is here. And I think soon we're going to have a strategy similar to that:
A- Abstinence. People who avoided sex in toto because of the risk of getting HIV. They will stop abstaining when the cure for HIV is found. Similarly, Covid 19 has a group of people who believe in abstinence. Since March 15th when the first case of Covid landed in Kenya, they've never come out of their houses. They will only come out when a vaccine has been found.
Be faithful. This group accepted HIV was here to stay but as a preventive measure they chose to have only one partner. Unfortunately despite being faithful there are some who contracted the virus from their unfaithful partner. In corona virus, this is the group that washes hands and maintains social distance. Unfortunately someone evil can cough in their faces and they get the virus. Remember the lady at the train station in London?
C- Condom. In HIV, there is a group that wear condoms. Some wear the free GOK ones while others wear Durex. Bottom line is theyve accepted HIV is there, they treated everyone as being high risk and wear condoms 247. In corona virus, this is the group that wears masks 247. Some wear N95 while others wear the normal mask. But they know the virus is there, they treat everyone as high risk, they wear the masks whenever they're out and go about their business.
