Holding Evidence you cannot Use
So, I am living with this Kunguru. Let’s call her Kunguru number 3 to avoid confusion in future. She is trying to conceive but things seem not to be working. I deliberately use ‘she’ instead of ‘we’ because I was a passive and unwilling participant in whole project, and did not care much whichever direction it took. It is one of those things where a woman forces you to do something without using force. After a few months with no results, she consults a gynecologist who prescribes all sorts ovary blockers and unblockers. Two more months pass and still, no results. At this point, it is suggested that I should accompany her to the gynecologist for a checkup. As you all know, a full-blooded African man will choose death any time rather than discuss sexual health matters with a third party. I am no different. I sabotaged this plan by using all sorts of excuses to delay seeing the doctor. My resistance was not solely because I hated the idea of discussing personal matters with a third party. No. The problem is that I was in the middle a problem that could prove I did not have any problem. The fact is, I had knocked up a girl in the interim. Before you judge, this is the traditional method of ruling out errors.
After two more months of me resisting the doctor issue, the Kunguru conceived. Later, she confessed that before we met; she was on those long-term family planning implants. Yes, I was vindicated. But the confession left me with a sour taste in the mouth. In those days, a young, unmarried woman with a long-term family-planning implant could only have been one thing; I won’t elaborate. Did I mention the girl I had knocked up was employed in this Kunguru’s salon. My action was still justified in retrospect.
