A former chairman of URP, Eliud Turmoi has sensationally claimed the Deputy President William Ruto was paid Kshs 3 billion by a club of wealthy men from Mt. Kenya to shelve his Presidential ambitions in 2013.
The wealthy club comprises of three tycoons- two from Kiambu, one from Muranga. The two from Kiambu are nut and flower exporters and the one from Muranga owns a bank.
An angry Turmoi said that DP Ruto was paid the money in two installments. The first was a Shs 1.8 Billion payment after the Nakuru declaration, where TNA and URP signed a pact to go it together in 2013. The second payout happened soon after the 2013 election.
The former chairman insists that the DP should have shared the loot with founding members of URP. He disclosed to our source that the DP had on many occasions promised former URP officials with a token of appreciation, but nothing was forthcoming.
