The Kenya Centre for Disease Control (KCDC) has classified brokenness as a sexually transmitted disease (STD). This follows a high number of complaints from young men who reported finding themselves in financial distress after responding to innocuous salutations from females through electronic communication. Where the condition is not managed early enough, it could quickly escalate to bankruptcy, where the patient may require more aggressive interventions. Preliminary data indicate high vulnerability to the disease in the 25-35 age group. However, a few outlier cases have been reported in the 65-70 age group. Further information will be provided as more data become available.
