Fish farming advice

Habari wadau.

I need advice on fish farming. First question is do kyuks love fish? My market will be mostly Kyuks who are my neighbors.

The other questions:

1) How much big of a space do I need?
2) What variety of fish do kyuks like the most? Najua Omena hawatakula but which other variety?
In Fish farming when we want to get the spacing, u need to ask yourself, how many fish do I want to stock and type?
Well for catfish it's about 5-10fingerlings/square metres and Tilapia is 3/metre square.
The depth of the pond is about 1m.
You can choose earthern ponds(kama uko na Maji since you have to continuously replenish) or Dam liner(kama hauna Maji mingi)
I have 3 ponds, all earthern.
Current price of catfish Ni ksh250-300/kg in Kiambu.

Nyeri, am forgetting the name of the exact place, there is a farm you can go and learn about fish farming.
As you start, you should know that the taste of pond fish and fresh water lake fish are very different and people will signal out. Most people prefer fresh water lake fish kama ya Naivasha because it's very tasty.
Have you ever asked yourself despite eateries around lake Naivasha being so dirty the place is usually full of people.

I am no chef but i would like to think fish sourced from ponds can be marinated and spiced up to enhance the flavour.

@Okiya this venture sounds exciting especially the marketing side, try and see it through. Sometime last year there was a feature on TV where fishermen in Lamu complained about a lack of market for their fish, it is super-far but there could be a work-around that works in your favour.

It appears your market is kiambu/kikuyu community. Which type of fish do they require? Sijaelewa vizuri about the spacing.

Thanks all for the advice. Izidi kukuja. Ofcourse I will also do additional research kwa ground but a good starting point is here.

At a bar in Nairobi, I once ran into this gentlman who was researching fish farming in Western |nyanza regions. He said a smart move is to be a supplier of fingerlings that is where the money is, with less headaches. He told me a story that his friend ,husband to Christine Ombaka (MP) who made a killing every Christmas selling fish from his rural home ponds. If you have ODM connections hook up with him for ideas.

There's a fresh water fish taste. Ka-mchanga or something, kwa umbali hivi, that gives it a special feel. So, if you take a fresh water fish and a pond fish, marinate and spice to the same degree, the fresh water fish will still taste better.

However ,fish farming can still be done in open fresh water using cages.

Hapo Kwa cooking instructions A MUST...we don't want "drowned" fish for lunch

Lake fish is supposed to be tastier than farmed fish. However, not sure about the safety of eating fish from our lakes anymore. With the dumping of chemicals from flower farms in Naivasha, mercury and untreated waste being dumped into Lake Victoria. I have personally moved to pond fish and so a potential customer for Okiya.

Chunga usifuge chura ukifikiri ni samaki, birds are not to prey on fingerlings na zina wacha viura.

Usiwauzie zile samaki za sagana(trout) Zina tumifupa twingi which could easily choke a kid. Catfish, Omena, Tilapia na Nile Perch ziko sawa. I was introduced to fish nikiwa kipii and still enjoy them hata Omena I used to fry them with garlic and take them to boarding school narusha kwa githeri au nakula na ugali. Kichwa ya samaki, fins and spinal fluid nararua with lots of seriousness.
