The shutdown of the US economy will prove to be the most expensive self-inflicted injury in the history of mankind.

Good points you make. But you forget to mention that the doomsday model which was used to drive policy got it wrong. They used NY and NJ data to model for the whole of US.The same model that cut the hospitalizations by 80% within a week!!! chinese virus was overhyped by the US lamestream media in their efforts to score points against Trump.
Btw Trump put it out clearly during today's press briefing. He said hataki credit. But for the benefit of ordinary citizens who are working hard to slow down chinese virus, facts should be reported and credit acorded to them.

I am not pushing any propaganda. pure facts. The elective surgeries in US were stopped because hospitals were told to prepare for an upsurge of chinese virus patients. The information about the upsurge was coming from the doomsday models.

Models are useful in shaping policy for a likely outcome. But its their accuracy that many people are questioning. What you need to appreciate is that heavy and painful decisions have been made based on the models.
