CJ David Maraga opposes BBI

While the country is still fight the Coronavirus, Chief Justice David Maraga has dropped a bombshell and he is not supporting proposals made to BBI on Judiciary.

He says the proposals in the BBI is a scheme to capture and firmly place the Judiciary under the Executive.

Some proposals states that the President should be given a say in appointment of a judge.

But in the current period it has been independent from the manipulation of the other arms of the government than any other time in history. What is making things bad is the corruption and rogue officials in it.

I think its vital to have some sort of independence in the various arms, of course they depend on each other, but ile siku a senior or well connected person comes and lays claim to your plot or house thats when one realizes, or rather that when I realized the importance of an independent judiciary, of course there will always be elements in any system that will always be rouge, but that independence or the illusion of the same is important.
