Reminds me when Antibiotics were heralded as the "magic Bullet" against microbes. Then Microbes started mutating and became totally resistant.

I beleive viruses, bacteria, and fungi to be complex and mysterious organisms.

They will one day wipe out all the population on Earth.

I would cut them a little slack, coz they were dealing with something they've never come across before, and were basing conclusions on the evidence they had then. Unfortunate, but understandable.
