A vehicle from President William Ruto’s official motorcade was on Sunday involved in a deadly crash in Embu County, killing two civilians before rolling off the road in a separate accident.

The horrifying incident unfolded shortly after the Head of State had concluded a church service in the region. Eyewitnesses say the escort vehicle, which was speeding ahead of the presidential convoy, struck a boda boda rider and his female passenger along the busy Embu-Kiritiri road.

Both victims reportedly died on the spot, their bodies flung several meters from the point of impact. The vehicle, however, did not stop, and continued at high speed — a move that angered onlookers and sparked outrage in the area.

Moments later, the same escort vehicle is said to have lost control several kilometers away, veered off the road, and rolled multiple times. Preliminary reports suggest that the occupants of the vehicle — all believed to be security officers — may have died on the spot, though authorities are yet to confirm fatalities.

Police officers and emergency rescue teams rushed to both accident scenes. The area has since been cordoned off as investigations commence into the tragic double accident involving the presidential escort team.

The circumstances surrounding the speeding and subsequent crash have raised fresh questions about the conduct and accountability of VIP escort drivers, especially on public roads.
