Tho this is Ethiopia, its funny that its the orthodox christians calling for genocide of the protestants. Yaani hata within one religion different sects are calling for the extermination of another, its like you instal religion in someones brain and it formats everything else

It's a case of conservative Christians (Orthodox) against evangelicals (American Christianity). There have been lamentations for long that evangelicals are eating into and polluting traditional Ethiopian Christianity, of course with the support of American money and brainwashing. The foray of evangelical Christianity into Ethiopia is the equivalent of the rainbow agenda for the rest of us. That is the reason you will see strong emotions emerging against evangelism, which often encourages the erasure of millennia-old traditional and religious practices.

I am trying to get a relatable equivalent that would draw similar ire. Maybe we can compare it to people giving full girl names to boys and vice versa, where a boy becomes Edith Wambui and a girl becomes Joseph Maina (sorry blacktemplar. I ran out of examples)
