So, by now, you all know that the chief’s daughter is heavily pregnant for me. I know you’re wondering why I have to mention this on a farming platform. Relax, I will explain.
Today, I woke up very early, ready to sow my bulb onion seedlings. And because I always do things the right way, I started my morning with a hot bowl of my super nice porridge ,made of groundnuts, cassava, arrowroots, and fresh goat milk. You know, farming needs energy. I then put on my green overall, just to match with my exciting plants, and stepped outside.
It was around 6 AM. We were working this early because, first, it was the weekend, and second, it was the end of the month. My salaried friends would definitely call me by 10 AM, and we would have to pop into Nyua Ciothe Bar to 'nice' ourselves a little.
I grabbed my 3kgs of orthosilicic powder which happens to be pink in color and started scattering it on the farm, ready to mix it with the soil. Just as I was about to finish, my phone rang. Guess who? The chief’s daughter.
"Ken, niko hapa nje with good news!"
I ran quickly and opened the gate. Since I live in the village, my farm starts just a few meters from my house. She looked at it and, suddenly, she jumped with excitement.
"What’s it?" I asked.
She smiled and asked, "Are you friends with Kim the doctor?"
"Why?" I asked, confused.
She continued, "I visited the hospital yesterday for my clinic, and Kim did a scan to check on the baby. It’s a girl! So, tell me, did Kim leak the information to you? Is that why you are applying pink powder to your farm?"
Now, I was very confused. I congratulated her first, but I had no idea about the baby’s gender. I pointed at the pink powder and explained,
"This is orthosilicic. It’s not a gender-reveal decoration; it’s a soil enhancer! It improves the soil and helps plants grow stronger."
She looked at me suspiciously, so I grabbed 2 Jerry cans ,its a village norm for seating on Jerry cans and we both sat down as I continued explaining.
What is Orthosilicic and why am i applying it?
Orthosilicic acid is a natural form of silicon that plants can easily absorb. Most soils have silicon, but plants struggle to take it up. This powder helps fix that problem.
1. Strengthens plants - It makes crops stronger by reinforcing their cell walls, just like a good diet strengthens a baby before birth.
2. Improves disease resistance - Plants treated with orthosilicic don’t get sick easily. They fight off fungi and pests like warriors.
3. Boosts nutrient uptake - It helps plants absorb other important nutrients like phosphorus and potassium.
4. Enhances Drought Resistance - Plants grown in silicon-rich soil don’t suffer much during dry seasons.
5. Better hrowth and higher yields -More food for everyone!
It’s 100% natural and can be applied to all crops. You can mix it with soil or even blend it with your first fertilizer application ,3kgs per acre.
As I was finishing my explanation, the chief’s daughter stood up and headed toward the kitchen. Maybe she went to check if there was any porridge left. Or maybe she was still thinking about her baby’s "official color" now being pink.
I also stands up and head to the farm...
