A more accurate method would be to measure the "phantom draw" of a phone charger plugged in + the phone consumption which he calc'd out. Tho its still not much

And the fact that phones nowadays stop charging once full without damage to the batteries. Actually, there's a setting to stop charging at I think 85% on some devices.
