Former Murang'a Governor Mwangi Wa Iria's wife Jane Waigwe Kimani was on Tuesday presented in court to take plea in a Ksh.562 million Murang'a County corruption case. Appearing before Milimani Anti-Corruption Magistrate Victor Wakhumile, Jane was charged with corruption charges which she pleaded not guilty to alongside her co-accused David Maina Kiama (her brother). In the first count, she was charged with conspiracy to commit an offence of corruption.

It is alleged that between October 21, 2014, and June 19, 2017, Jane alongside nine other accused persons unlawfully contracted for the provisions of media services awarded Top Image Media Consultant Limited, amounting to over Ksh.351 million. They were released on a bond of Ksh.5 million or a cash bail of Ksh.1 million. The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has also confirmed that the accused were also ordered to deposit travel documents with the court and not to leave the country without the court’s permission.

On April 30, the ex-governor spent a night in the Industrial Area Prison after failing to raise a KSh. 20 million bond and an alternative cash bail of KSh. 10 million. He is facing a number of corruption charges, including abuse of office, conflict of interest, unlawful acquisition of public property, and money laundering, all to which he has pleaded not guilty.

The former Governor was arraigned on 25th April, 2024 where he pleaded not guilty to, among others, conspiracy to commit an offence of corruption. It is alleged that between October 21, 2014 and June 19, 2017, being the governor of Murang’a County, Mr. Wa Iria who is out on bond, together with nine other accused persons unlawfully contracted for the provisions of media services by Top Image Media Consultant Limited amounting to over Kes543million.

Wa Iria’s counsel made an oral application for stay of proceedings in the Chief Magistrates’ Anti-Corruption Court where Mr. Wa Iria and co-accused are, in Case No. E012 of 2014, charged with various corruption offences. The matter came up for directions before Justice Prof. Nixon Sifuna, of the Anti-Corruption Division of the High Court. In declining the application, Justice Sifuna faulted Mr. Wa Iria’s advocate for altering Court documents without the Court’s permission. He struck out the petition and granted the petitioners leave to amend, file and serve it afresh.

“I hold that this is a drastic action that will require a formal Application, formal responses, as well as submissions by all the parties, followed by a well-considered determination by this Court on merits,” he ruled. The matter shall be mentioned on 15th May, 2024 to confirm if the Amended Petition will have been filed and served as ordered, and to give further directions on responses and the hearing.

What will be the message that will convince people to vote for him?
Forget about message. Majority of Kenyans don't vote based on the message.

Let me draw you a scenario. Raila wins or loses the AU seat. It doesn't matter, his interests and those of Ruto are aligned. In fact, if he loses it will confirm the alliance even more. In what capacity, I don't know.

But who are the serious competitor? Kalonzo, Martha Karua, and Omtatah. The Kebasos of this world will barely make a percentage point.

Omtatah will have to leave Azimio and with it lose Raila's sycophant base. He will most likely align with Karua. Karua has sold her soul before so she won't have trouble aligning with Kalonzo.

The question is, will they accept to be subservient to Kalonzo who will undoubtedly want to be the presidential candidate? I would say no!

So those are three potential candidates. Ruto, Kalonzo and Omtatah, the peoples choice.

Who among the three do you think will create the most formidable coalition?

I think you are in an alternate universe bro, people are so mad out here, even the so called robot luos. If Ruto trusts Raila it's a long con game....western is forever gone.

If and a very big IF we get to 2027, here's how it will be.
1. Mt. Kenya will definitely have a candidate
2. Kalonzo will definitely run
3. Matiangi maybe.
4. Luhya person maybe

This is going to be like 1992 and 97 elections where each region coalesce around their own. Nobody will reach 50%+1 in round 1.
In the repeat election, all losers will gang up against Ruto.

The key candidate will emerge in the last lap. It is strategic to deny the KK government a single target by deploying several pacesetters to keep it preoccupied. When the time comes, it will happen naturally as people realize what is at stake. When people at the bottom are angry, they do not need much persuasion. And don't forget that the church has already found a convenient face for the devil who they will blame for everything, including their own mistakes. The church that endorsed Ruto is the same church that will undo him. I don't even need to include the media who, unless something happens, will lead the campaigns for whoever is elected.

As it is, I fully expect the courts to uphold Riggy G's impeachment. That will pabe way for Kindiki and you will suddenly see how quickly the political volatility dies out. Gachagua will be treated like a leper by the very Wiper party that is 'standing' by him.

But I have deliberately avoided including potential running mates except for Karua and Omtatah which I fully expect to be the integrity.

You could even observe a situation where Omtatah continues to hide under the warm wing of Raila leaving just Karua and that will be fun to watch. Your 'heroes' behaving like the opportunistic leeches they actually are.

If Matiangi ran he would absolutely eat into the votes of the integrity ticket. That is the same demographic that would ironically want to vote for one of the most corrupt CS's of Uhuru's tenure.

If the economy continues to improve which I suspect it will, when Kenyans walk into the newly constructed Talanta stadium and Ruto is leading the nation in 'patriotically' singing the National Anthem just one month to the election, his re-election will have been confirmed.

In fact it is more likely that people like Kalonzo and the other political nobodies will be standing behind Ruto beaming ear to ear as he recieves his certificate at Bomas.

Which candidate ever declared intention to vie that emerged last minute and won?
