I love space stuff and its interesting.

Following Musk and Bezos journey in building their space companies from scratch, it is interesting hearing them talk about technology and how things work.

Whereas they do not have a rocket science background, they seem quite knowledgeable when it comes to rockets and space. They are actually now competing with NASA and government funded programmes from even companies like Boeing, (juzi they were discredited for a failed return trip from the space station)

Which begs the question? Has humanity learned to harness knowledge more efficiently? Musk and Bezos i think dropped out of college and are now the foremost voices in space stuff....ama does someone become more clever the wealthier you become? Is there a coefficient between wealth and knowledge?

Another example is Dangote, he built an oil refinary from scratch and he can explain about the whole refinary process without a chemistry degree...what gives?

If you can organise financing, and hire the sharpest brains, you can become an expert in anything overnight

NO

When it comes to dropping out of college there's an interesting angle to consider. Examples of people who dropped out then launched successful ventures first had to beat many others to qualify for a place in those prestigious institutions. Then they found something more interesting and challenging than completing their formal education in the said institutions.

They are not the normal dropouts because of inability

That is the field-specific general knowledge anyone managing a given industry acquires from interacting with specialists. Beneath those sketchy descriptions lie the complex details the public is never exposed to, and which only practicing experts understand.

There is a saying even in Kenya that those who go ahead and finish college with first class degrees end up working for people who never went to university or people who got straight A's in high-school end up working for people who got B and C's, isnt that the same logic?

Hapa i do not entirely agree....programming was a field that was left to computer science degree holders...now even high schoolers are coding some complex programs....it is not really about just interactive with specialists....knowledge is freely available for those who wish to learn...no degree needed

Kenya kuna ukora mwingi sana, those who manipulate the system and grease hands can make some money. Even people with certified death certificates can vie for public office.

However, in a system that rewards merit different kinds of people succeed, though the may or may not be formally educated. Drive is also important

You don't get it. If you are a hotel manager, with time you gain a basic understanding of all processes involved (assuming you are teachable). But that does not mean you can step in for an absent chef. The same way a hospital manager can explain events in their facility even though they have no medical training.

The things you hear the execs talking about are the basics that they need to understand to communicate with the people they lead. If they did not understand these things, then they would have to hire other people to take their positions.

I remember S.K. Macharia of Citizen TV narrating how he has come to learn a great deal about broadcasting through his position. These are things he had never encountered before and would have never learned outside of his position.
